Biography

Professor Pema Jessica Marcello, MSN, ARNP, FNP-BC, PMHNP-BC brings over 17 years of diverse clinical and teaching experience to her role as mental health faculty in the BSN program at Advent Health University. Professor Marcello graduated with honors from Valencia Community College with her ASN. She completed her BSN with honors at Chamberlain University. She went on to complete her MSN and post-masters graduate training from Duke University.

Clinically, Professor Marcello has worked in emergency medicine, psychiatric emergency rooms, cardiac and medical intensive care units, peri anesthesia care, and post-operative settings. She gained valuable experience in private practice providing psychotherapy and offering functional medicine telepsychiatry services to underserved communities living with serious mental illness.  She also worked as a consulting associate faculty member at Duke University, serving as a mentor to graduate students and assisting in the simulation lab.

Professor Marcello’s research interests focus on creating primary mental health promotion and creating trauma-informed healthcare systems. She has clinical experience in the application of integrating functional genomics into psychiatric care. In addition, she has served as a content expert on trauma-related disorders and authored pre-licensure textbook content on these topics.

In her role at AdventHealth University, Professor Marcello strives to educate and inspire the next generation of nursing leaders. Her diverse background and passion for innovation and trauma-informed nursing enriches the BSN program and supports the development of nurses equipped to provide holistic, patient-centered care.
